The main aims of the Group are to:
- Use the planning process to oppose the proposed Tesco Superstore at Ashton Gate; and
- To redress the media coverage so far, so both sides of the argument can be heard.
Work on the second aim has already started with BERATE organiser, Chris Uttley, being interviewed on Star 107.2FM and Original 106.5 FM. BERATE also got a mention on Bristol 24-7 the city's new online news website.

So did you say NO to Sainsbury's ?
ReplyDeleteYou people really make me laugh. You seem to think a Tesco will force shops in North Street to close ? Lets look at the facts
Sainsburys. Have they affected North Street shops ? MMm let me think..what shops are those ?
Dinkies- A tobacconist where smoking is given up by more and more people.
Several second hand shops...umm cant see them affected can you ?
Hi-Fi and TV store. Cant remember its name. You know the one that is still trading despite Currys on Winterstoke Road...oh and PC World sell TVS and audio too dont they ?
Several bars and cafes...all aimed at the Students.
Take-aways. chinese, Indian and others...umm cant see these affected !
HArdware store..despite Wickes down the road and funnily enough SAINSBURY's, its still trading !
NAtWest & HSBC...not affected.
A Jewellers. A jewellers..something Tesco does not delve..well i havent noticed..and neither have you !
Hairdressers and Barbers...been to a Tesco for a short back and sides lately have we ?
Ive probably missed some out. Feel free to point them out but I find it very doubtful youd win the argument on it !
Yes to Tesco, Yes to the new stadium, No to tree huggers who continually hold Bristol back from being the City it should be.
